Drugs in Mexico
Friday, May 2nd, 2008Mexico happens to be the biggest drug-provider for the United States of America. Drug cartels exist along the border- the front-runners being the Gulf cartel and the other, the Sinaloa cartel. Drug wars are a daily affair with fights breaking out between both the police and the cartels, as well as between the cartels themselves. A reported 2600 people died last year in these clashes. Although the Mexican police force has made a lot of recent drug hauls and captured many kingpins, there still remains a long way to go. With the Merida Initiative of the USA, that has promised to provide monetary and material aid to end the drug menace, hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel for Mexico.
