Isreal vs Palestine!

April 27th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in General

From when the Zionists began land to call their own, through the Holocaust and the mass exodus of the Jews to the place, till today’s continued warfare across the Gaza strip- the Palestinian lands have seen turmoil like no one else has. Over years the Jews demanded an all-Jew nation and pushed away the other Muslims, Christians and other natives living here, to establish the State of Israel. The fights, the inhuman treatment of the natives, the continued destruction of lives and property is forcing the United Nations and other super powers to initiate peace talks and treaties. Although many treaties have been signed in recent times, everyday life, time and again, gets disrupted with the sound of the rifle firing!

Of all fields of writing, the one which requires more institutions to teach is Sports Journalism. If taking up a passion as a profession and playing sports was fascinating, writing about them just makes it better! Sports Journalism requires not only a good understanding of the sport but also a keen knowledge about writing. Aces in the field advice that one needs to read a lot (irrespective of the genre of writing) to equip oneself with the ability to think with clarity and pen with substance. Sports’ writing needs a great sense of control over words so that one can recreate the entire scene word-to-word and give the reader a feeling of having watched it live.

Water Scarcity

April 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in General

Global climate change, pollution and environmental degradation have lead to one major problem- water scarcity. Potable and drinkable water sources are greatly on the decline and people are mindlessly installing more bore wells to draw water from greater depths. This differential settlement of soil has only lead to loss of stability in soil and results in landslides, caving in of buildings etc. More and more countries have begun to buy drinking water on a daily basis to cater to their needs. This has opened a whole new business of drinking water companies that release cans and bottles of pure mineral water. Linking of rivers and a good watershed management plan shall hopefully help these countries from crumbling under the problem of water scarcity.

Beautiful Photographs

Photographs are a beautiful way to preserve memory and canonize a moment in time. Old fading photographs remind us of how age creeps up on all of us. They go on to show those long dead relatives, those fond nooks and crannies, that lovely childhood and make us feel young again. From monstrous equipment to capture the picture to micro-mini sized swanky fit-in-the-palm stuff- cameras have come a long way. These days, most people use a digital camera that captures the images which can then be printed on photographic paper. Old timers and antiquity lovers still resort to the quintessential film cameras that capture images in negatives on the film roll which is developed to give you the photograph.
